In 2013, I landed my first job in events - I was working as an event staff member at the university I was simultaneously attending. Majoring in English in hopes to become a teacher/writer someday, I never imagined over the next seven years my event staff job would turn into a management position, which would then turn into a full-time position. For four years, I was in charge of concerts and events in a newly built venue on the university’s campus, fueling my love for events each time I watched the planning turn into execution.
Somewhere along the way, around 2015, I lived in D.C. for a summer and interned with one of the top wedding planners in America. Two years later (after returning home and working full-time at the university), I began assisting at weddings in D.C. and central VA on the weekends; this was when I knew weddings would be my next step in life. Outside of the logistics I was already enjoying at the university, the design aspect of weddings was something I loved and found passion in, as each one I saw was uniquely beautiful.
In 2018, the year I married my best friend Ross, we officially took on our first coordinating job for the newly formed Erin Cleveland Events. It just so happened to be my best friend Ellie’s sister’s wedding, in Durham, England, of all places. Quite a special way to kick off a career, right? After Jenna’s wedding, we began taking more weddings all over Virginia and even a few destination weddings, and I quit my job at the university in 2020 to go full-time as a wedding planner. Most importantly, I quit my full-time job because I was a new mom to my St. Patrick’s Day baby, Calvin.
Now that we’re five years in, we have the best part of any business - a team that feels like family. Our team is formed of logistical thinkers, warm spirits, designers, and professionals. We are dedicated, passionate, motivated, and hard-working. We do not take the honor of planning or managing your wedding experience lightly, and we will do anything we can to make you enjoy the process.
Wedding planning seasons are highly emotional, so we’re here to be your voice of reason. Wedding planning can be stressful financially and logistically, so we’re here to create and manage your budget and details, down to the type of pens your guests sign your guest book with on the wedding day. Wedding planning can be one of the best experiences of your life - we’re here to ensure that happens.
The gift of being your wedding planner is enough for us, but the gift of the relationships we make with our clients-turned-friends is exponentially more meaningful than we could have ever imagined. It’s the reason we’re so invested in this industry, and we hope to leave a little light and magic with each couple and family we meet.
"Erin is the absolute BEST! I am so very grateful we had her support during our wedding planning process. She is everything that we could have asked for in a planner - she is organized, communicated with us freely and frequently, has lots of vendors that she's worked with before, and offered to help with the little things that I didn't even know a planner would help with."
