If you’re a Pinterest person like us, you’ve been obsessed with the coastal aesthetic this year. It seems like everywhere you look the words “coastal grandmother” or “coastal granddaughter” are always being used to describe this classic, minimalist, clean, wind blown aesthetic.
Well, as you would expect, it made for a stunning theme during the wedding season as well. Despite the location of the weddings, we found that the addition of coastal stylings brought about feelings of sweet nostalgia and summertime coziness, making for an overall blissful environment on the special day.
Taking on a concept like creating a coastal wedding may seem intimidating at first, with its endless possibilities in terms of shape & form. As such, we found it important to remember to ~think minimalistically. Minimalism, in this sense, could look like a touch of blue in the place settings or bouquets of beautiful white & blue florals. These aspects warmly greet your guests, welcoming them to the softness and classy simplicity coastal vibes can bring to the mountains (or anywhere of your choosing!).
When keeping in mind all the theme has to offer, however, we must recognize the luxurious characteristics ~coastal~ has historically given to the world of design as well. For our purposes, we give honor and thanks in the form of light rattan wood furniture: cool overhanging lanterns, reception chairs, and in fun accent pieces. As we attempt to capture the magic effortlessness of it all, our design honorary mention has to go out to the blue & white patterned bridesmaid dresses that danced their way into our hearts. I know, I know, we can’t and won’t stop talking about our love for a patterned dress this summer, but c’mon, & LOOK at these stunning details (it’s ok to obsess over them too) !
Whether we were in the mountains of central VA, or stunting in the actual sand in NC, we found great joy in implementing touches of the coastal aesthetic’s embrace.
