The planning is finished and the seating chart has been completed. The question is, how do you bring together an escort table that is visually appealing and makes it easy for your guests to find their places? While a classic look can still be special, we thought it’d be fun to bring a bit of creativity to bringing an escort table to life. If it’s the first piece your guests will see as they enter your reception, why not make it stand out and enticing to your guests?
Our goal with this display was simple: transport guests into a world that gives them the feeling of an outdoor, open air, European market. From perfectly ripe heirloom tomatoes, to decadent dips, olive oils and breads, we
wanted this table to feel like a first class flight to Lake Como. We also wanted to create a unique escort display that didn’t require large rentals or expensive displays, keeping it cost effective for couples.
But that’s not even our favorite part.
Each guest not only travels to the seaside with this table, but they get their own taste of the sea with a tinned fish package, unveiling their table number. Brands like Matiz, Fishwife and Arroyabe decorate the display with a variety of flavors that will remind guests of your special day (when they’re enjoying a smoked salmon avocado toast in the future, a personal Fishwife recipe favorite).
Keeping the decor simple with a table where escort cards do the talking is key. Using fresh vegetables and kitchen essentials, like olive oil and canned tomatoes, as decor adds to that market feel and brightens the table. We added elements like Spicewalla spices, lemons, crackers, jams and other items that can double as light bites for your guests, allowing this table to serve dual purposes.
Wicker baskets add to that natural, outdoor feel, and are decor pieces that can elevate a design and are easy to source from secondhand shops, craft stores and estate sales. These baskets helped to create layers that add dimension to the display.
It also added unique texture to the display, bringing each piece together and creating a unified look. We then garnished the table with little trinkets for a seaside feel, adding a small bowl of seashells, a golden dolphin trinket and golden decor pieces, that stood out perfectly amongst the sea of primary colors.
This table might just be an ECE favorite, brought together by the desire to make an escort table feel just as special as the other details of the wedding day. This is also a display that can be customized to fit the tastes of the couple. Not in a sardine summer mood? Try finding individual packed items of your favorite sweet or savory treat and base a table off of the flavors, textures and colors of your desired party favor.
We can’t wait to find more ways to elevate escort displays, giving them that “wow” factor.
